Testing a friendship

Hi all,

Just thought I would write and ask your advice on this issue.

I bought a second hand sofa set for $100 (a three piece set) a while ago and my friend needed a sofa and I didnt have space to store it, so I lent it to him. Recently, he decided to get a new sofa set and said he wanted to return it (this is not knowing how damaged it was). We decided he should sell it for me and just recently he posted it on ebay and sold it for $7.50!!

TBH I didnt care for the sofa, but auctioning it for probably 99 cents and selling it for $7.50 is pretty **bleep**. And he's reply is "Yes, Im a bit shocked at how low it ended up" + the fact that his dog has made holes and scratches on it. So my question is should I ask for more money (out of his pocket) like $50 more? (but he did give me $20).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

How damaged was it when you lent it to him?   It was certainly filthy when he listed it.

It seems to me that he has had more than $20 worth of use from it.....I would be asking for more.

Definitely not as bad as those photos!! I was quite shocked. I thought he was kidding when he said $7.50.

I'm surprised he got $7.50 TBH

Just me, but, he'd be an ex friend.

You have to work out how much your friendship is worth to you.

Honestly myfashion,

You did a ' friend ' a favour.

The only consideration is - not money - but - a 'friend '.

You do the sums.

Someone got a really good buy at $7.50.

The wooden frame will clean up nicely...it is easy to get rid of the scratches.

Even if the cushions need replacing it will still be a nice set when it is reupholstered.

prolly bought by someone with an upolstry business.

quick recover and resell

and will be sold at $200++ a great little flip of furniture...

How much do you think he would have gotten? (mind you, the auction ended on Mothers Day).
