Hi Soul...I always thought "impasto" was a method of painting....using a palette knife and puttting it on thickly?

I've cropped it to just the canvas inside the frame.
Couldn't even tell you what kind of paint it was, only that it was in tubes and there was no water or medium stuff, I just mixed white with everything and that's what happened ... :8}

It's not good though Kengillard, it's really just tossed onto the canvas, no light and shade knowledge and the paint was all jumbled, I still don't know whether it was oil or acrylic paint and I can't tell .. :8}

I'm wondering if I should try the same thing again with these acrylic paints I have now?

I like it tas. Simple and it leaves the viewer to tell the story.
gil, yep you're right, it is a method of painting. I think they called the medium
impasto" to give an idea of how it works ? Anyway, if it's mixed with acylics it can be used "impasto" and I love that style of painting.
