One of the old man birds got his beak clipped this morning.
No more of the long, curved upper beak and the difficulty and discomfort that comes with it...
I could tell by his saucer eyes that he'd "had the gas" - their pupils dilate and they have a distinctive "stare"...
In his case his coordination was out, too...
He was fine while he was foraging on the ground, but it became apparent that he wasn't so fine when he flew up onto the big table and landed in six different places at once, ha ha.
The poor old bloke lost his footing and went everywhere...
Still, it's a good thing that it's a big table, ha ha...
When he comes in tomorrow his eyes'll be fine, his coordination will be back to as good as 100% and he'll be his usual old self...
It's just getting through today that poses the challenges...
He spied me and shuffled off to the other end of the table, turning back to glare at me... ha ha.
Today he doesn't like people, and I can't say I blame him... ha ha.
That's the way it is with day surgery... They say it'll all be over in half an hour, they just don't tell you that you'll spend the rest of the day feeling like a wet rag, ha ha.

won't be long though, a couple more days or so and we'll be bouncing around like teddies on a trampoline ...
