I've got a battery powered string of lights - LEDs with novelty covers...

It's a makes a good decoration, and the advantage is that not being mains powered it can go pretty much anywhere without the hassle of tripping over extension cords.

Get half a dozen Christmas themed ones, drape 'em over the curtain rails and you're fixed for Chrissy decorations, you could even put them on the table to brighten up lunch... ha ha.

But...

At the end of the wire there's a battery box and it has a switch...

The switches are cheaply built and have, arguably, the working life of a lit match, ha ha.

They break, and when they break all you have is a string of not lights, ha ha.

I'm not quite there, yet... The switch is still at the point of On, Off, and Yeah, maybe I'll work, we''ll see how I feel... maybe I'll flicker the lights on and off during the small hours of the morning, just to annoy you... ha ha.

So once I can figure out how to get it down from where it's hanging, something which may involve the use of a step ladder, a broom handle and an immense amount of patience on my part... ha ha, I'm going to "fix" it...

Novelty string of lights... you are not going to beat me... ha ha!

The fig tree, because it was pretty much left to do as it pleased, turned into a gnarled and tangled mess...

You can't walk past the tree for all the branches that head in any and every direction, as they please...

The higher you go, the thinner the branches get...

Up to a point, even at the crown the branches are still pencil thick... impenetrable is a word that comes to mind, ha ha.

Being Winter, it's bare, so it's all grey branches...

Except for this morning...

There was a sightly off white shape nestled in the tree, sleeping and enjoying the sun...

Why should he bother roaming the neighbourhood foraging for food?

All he has to do is present himself by the back door during the afternoon and look pathetic...

A hunched, shivering figure, even better if he's standing on one foot with the other clutched beneath him as if it's injured... ha ha.

I'll give him a piece of bread and he'll head off along the bridge and sit with it in the sun and be as happy as anything...

Me? Shivering? It might have been a bit cool... The foot? Oh, I was resting it...

Oh no, there's nothing wrong with me, now that I've got my bread... There will be more, won't there...?, ha ha.

I was at MacDonald's and I saw an attractive woman spank her child after he threw his fries on the ground.

I caught her eye and threw my fries on the ground, then smiled suggestively...

It didn't work... I ended up having to go and get more fries... ha ha.
