There's two ramps that go up to the roof...
One's relatively slim, and the cockatoos can get a "claws over the edges" grip on it when they're coming down...
The other one's broader because it was made with the comfort of a possum with a big bulging pouch, in mind, ha ha.
The cockatoos don't find it too hard to go up that ramp, but with nothing to grip onto when they're coming down, they slide...
Sideways...
That's not really their favourite way of going down the ramp, but it does look funny, ha ha.
So I put some non slip tape on it, which makes life easier for everyone...
Two strips because it's a wide ramp...
Of course, one strip peeled away, at the top, leaving a tongue of tape waving in the breeze...
What's funny is that most of the birds cope with it - pushing it out of the way or stepping around it...
Most... ha ha.
At this point should I mention names? ha ha.
The old man bird makes his way up the ramp this evening, on way to bed, and about half way up "encounters" the offending piece of tape...
He stopped, looked at the tape, sternly looked at me, then headed on up the ramp...
"This will be fixed by the morning...".
"Yes Your Lordship, of course, Your Lordship... Fixed by the morning, if not sooner, Your Lordship..." Tugs greasy forelock, bowing and scraping as His Lordship exits... ha ha.
He's gone from the bird with the meek little voice - "Can I have some food, please?" to stomping around saying "Do this, do that..." as if he's become Lord of the manor, ha ha.
When it came to personality, he got extra helpings... ha ha.

I know there's people who might disagree but I think I would have made a really good dad, ha ha.

From the possum house came a shrill "Tsi-tsi-tsi"...
I recognise that sound... that's the "I'm not exactly happy" sound... ha ha.
Little possum is about a month, maybe six weeks old...
It would seem that Babs has had the little one out of the pouch and they probably slept curled up together in a beautiful soft focus picture of mother and child love... Awww... ha ha.
But now it's time to get back in the pouch because Mum has to get up and run, thunderously, across the roof, ha ha.
"Oh but do I have to...?"
Mum makes "unhappy" noise... ha ha.
