I've heard Burt the kookaburra "Kook-kook-kook-ing" before, and getting a reply...
It's good to know that there are other kookaburras around for him to talk to, ha ha.
This afternoon Burt "kook-kook-kooked", and before too long there was a reply...
It sounded like Burt was off, vaguely, to my right, and the other kookaburra was, similarly vaguely, off to my left...
About half an hour later Burt "kook-kook-kook-ed" again, and his friend joined in, starting about half a second after he did...
This time it sounded like they were in the same tree, if not on the same branch... ha ha.
About ten minutes after that, Burt let loose with a raucous, braying kookaburra call - gargling and hooting while still managing to "Kook-kook-kook", ha ha...
The other kookaburra, in a muted voice, "Kook-kook-kook-ed" in the background, ha ha.
You know, I could be wrong, but I think Burt might have found more than just a friend, but a very special friend, ha ha.
I hope there's a tree with a suitable hole in it not too far away... ha ha.
If an old man bird found the Toffee house "Not too bad, but not really what I'm looking for...", I hate to think that Burt might have designs upon it.... ha ha.
I know it's highly unlikely, but I have to laugh at the thought of poor Babs going over there and saying "Oh no, not More birds!", ha ha.
