The old man bird turned up early, just after the rain had set in this evening...
After about five minutes the rain pattern changed from a gentle hiss to a "Tock... Tock..." on the pergola roof...
Now, I asked myself, is that heavy raindrops falling randomly... or small hailstones...?
Rain or hail, the old man bird decided that the best place to be was up in his tree, so off he went, ha ha.
Some evenings he'll get a decent half hour of being spoilt, some evenings he's lucky not to be trampled by the horde when someone says "You know, I think that is hail...", and everyone makes a hasty exit... ha ha.
Poor old bloke... He got something to eat, at least, so he knows he's still loved, ha ha.
