The way I read it :
Oliver Yates may take Liberals to court of disputed returns over 'deceptive' election signs.
From where I sit - the reported 40% of the electorate of Chisholm - are of Chinese background.
How many of that 40% - are indeed Australian born - over 18 - are attending or have attended Higher Education.
How many of those families - like us discuss - have already made their decision before reaching the stairs of the voting platform.
How difficult it is going to be in a court of law to determine that sign was a cause of deception - other than colour.
Had it been in English - most of us would have read it - and voted as we intended.
It's probably a bit offensive to assume 40% of the 40% - are really that gullible.

as i see it, if even 1 person comes forward and says 'i read it and voted liberal because it told me too' then its a violation.
but thats not the rules as they are, may well be at the next election now.
every election is finding new ways to fool people into voting one way or another, then afterwards closing that loophole.
just like the media blackout when introduced was great, but back then it was just radio, tv and news papers.
now we have the interweb and its open slather even during polling day.
bombard us 60+ times an hour on our computers and phones, no restrictions.

based on what some of the (well educated) Chinese on twitter. are saying.. they found the signs and some of the fliers to be deceptive and are complaining about it
yes. Oliver Yates is planning to take the case to the court of disputed returns... he is still currently collecting evidence......
how many are Australian born etc.<??.. the last census has all that information

my PERSPECTIVE is just an interest in him wanting to take it further as my electorate is one of the one's where it occurred.. so, I am just watching what happens with interest

some here just like to 'have a go' at anyone posting anything they dont totally agree with
without ever posting anything themselves or adding anything new to the discussion.
even pointing out spelling errors like they have never made one.
its freedom of speech
