If the packet says almonds but very clearly contains peanuts why would a parent who's child has 'serious allegies' buy it and take it home?

So, it's a case of wait and see, I guesss.

It's very telling that Aldi didn't  issue any recall. They obviously suspect the same thing.

Mind you, I am a bit annoyed with Aldi lately and I wrote to tell them so.

My problem wasn't with what a packet contained but with what it didn't contain. I bought a packet of their gluten free blueberry muffin mix that advertised itself as nut free/dairy free, you name it.

It was also blueberry freeSmiley Mad

And to make it, you had to add-butter, milk, eggs and your own blueberries as well as a pack of choc bits.

Yes, I know i should have read the back of the pack before I bought but I was less than impressed, i can tell you!

I find packet mixes a total waste of time and money. By the time you add everything you may as well make it from scratch

Sounds like you bought a box of flour. Lol.

Yes, I got caught out in a weak moment. I have a friend who is coeliac so i thought it would be a quick fix, rather than buying the gluten free flour etc

You are right, packet mixes can be a waste of time. I find it varies a lot depending on brand though. Some are definitely better than others while some of the Aldi ones leave a lot to be desired.

I still think it is wrong to call something Blueberry muffin mix if it has no blueberries in it.Smiley Mad

More on the nuts though. That particular brand of nuts. The Natural almonds. I've bought them and they are reasonably good value but I have only ever seen them in natural almonds or cashews. I've never seen natural peanuts and not even sure they have peanuts in that particular range, which would make it.. strange.. if peanuts got into a pack.

I can't find where Oh So Natural packages peanuts either.

They do make peanut butter, but that would hardly be on the same production line.

And was it the only package with peanuts?

Definitely suss  IMO

Maybe they're a new variety of almonds that grow in the shape of a peanut.

And maybe I'm from Mars!!

But mud sticks - and some people will believe anything they read. They won't trust Aldi but they'll buy from dodgy Chinese sellers without seeing the goods.

Why did she even buy it?  You can see it's peanuts.

We suspect it may have contained almonds when it was bought.

At the moment, I am testing out one of those nifty electric vacuum sealers for food. It would be really easy to refill a pack with anything and reseal as new.

Just saying.Smiley Happy

Or maybe I just have a devious mind.
