Martin, I know what you mean about mobile phones.

Many years back, all the beautiful people had Nokias... Sleek, stylish phones with little buttons...

I bought an "ugly" Phillips because it had buttons that I could actually press.

Bring back pay phones... At least I knew where I stood with them... and I could always lift the receiver and say "Operator", much to the mirth of my companions... well, those who had seen The Matrix, anyway... ha ha...
