Maybe the Falcons aren't concerned about an extra hour of sunlight after work
Especially when work is all day and night

I know it's slow in hatching but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt...

Problem is that if it doesn't hatch very soon then the chick will be behind the eight ball.
It's siblings will be too big for it to fight for enough food and it won't be ready to fledge at the same time as the other three.
Life is very difficult for a chick.
Every stage is hard fought for but we'll just have to watch and see what unfolds

In the doorway of the possum house, just far enough back to avoid the light (so of course it wouldn't make a very good photo, ha ha), there's a lump...

A dark grey, furry lump, with a cream stripe across it...

It's around 29 degrees and someone's feeling the heat... ha ha...

It's times like these I quietly curse my decision to build the houses 7 or 8 feet up...

Though it's great for the possums, as privacy goes, because they don't have me waving a camera at them every five minutes... ha ha...

11.40pm....and she's not on the nest.

Where's she gone?

To the neighbours for a cuppa?

11.43pm  -  edit:   my bad.   She's back and tucked in.

Monday, 2 pm, thereabouts... The Bureau says it's 17 degrees in Melbourne... The little birds sprawling in the heat seem to think otherwise... ha ha.

Mum (I assume) popped in about 1.30, looked around, saw that all was good and then popped off again...

🙂

It's 15 deg in the city and, being Melbourne, it's cold......colder still 33 floors up, I should imagine.

She's taking longer and longer breaks away.

Aldi was all out of pigeons

I dropped in about quarter to three and it was feeding time...

It looks like she makes the effort to make sure that everyone gets something to eat.

I was worried that the smallest chick might be pushed out of the way by it's older siblings...

Not so... it made sure it was at the front of the pack, ha ha...

And that egg...

It looks like it's been punctured, from the outside...

That may not be a positive sign for whatever resided within...
