He must have heard you Martin.

Camera's looking at the north nest with all three asleep - 11.40pm

The small one didn't make it through the night.

Mum slept in the nest with them, and I watched the little one struggling as the other

two sat on it.

Very sad.

I don't know what mum will do with it, but the other two are pecking at it's feathers.

Yeah, I saw that as I looked in at 23.33
That is sad but unfortunately it's not unusual especially with Raptors.
Very common for the strongest one to deliberately kill their siblings.
I knew it was in trouble when I watched mum only feeding the two of them while it sat by not even asking to be fed.

Goodbye, little bird.

The memory of you will live on in our hearts...

🙂

According to their Facebook page, they've changed camera angles until

the parents remove the carcass.

They interfered last year, and tried to remove it for them, but startled one of the chicks off the ledge in the process.  It did, however, manage to flutter back on, thank goodness.

They'll leave it to nature this year.

This is one time I am very sad to have been right about the little one's condition.

RIP  baby!

Somebody asked me "What's your idea of the perfect date?".

I said "DD/MM/YYYY... I find the other formats can be confusing"....

A little levity to break the otherwise sombre mood.

I can't understand why the Yanks do month day year.
Just have to be different

The two young birds are down at the other nest box this afternoon, playing a rousing game of "I spy"...

"I spy with my little eye something beginning with... L...".

"L? Hmmm... L... L... I'll take a chance and say Ledge...".

"Right first time... You're a natural at this game... Now it's your turn...".

"Okay... I spy with my little eye something beginning with... L...".

"Oh, my... this is a tough one... I'm going to say Ledge...".

"Well done... Shall we play another round?".... ha ha...

And the littlest falcon made it into the papers...

27 today, 31 tomorrow, then 32 for Thursday and Friday...

All the kids'll want to go to the pool on the weekend...

Good luck, little ones, ha ha... apparently it's going to rain, right through the weekend...
