I bought another phone but I have all my contacts in the broken one and many vital text messages and pictures I'd like to get printed.
The replacement phone now has a cracked screen so I'm looking forward to getting the old phone back with it's nice perfect new screen.
This phone is also rubbish.
We're still 4G so I'll wait until we're 5G before I get another new phone

So what you are saying is - the old phone cannot be turned on.
Just to retrieve the info on it.

The screen was shattered and I either further destroyed it walking around with it in my pocket and got really sweaty and so it was affected by moisture but I also dropped it.
Then it could no longer be turned on.
I purchased a phone so my life could continue but I've lost all my friends and family contacts.
Some are over time reconnecting to me because they are intrigued as to my lack of contact but some are contacts for my slot cars and I contact them when I have what they want.
Some are family that only I talk to.
Some are international friends.
I don't Facebook
I call people and talk to them.
I was able to retrieve some email contacts when I connected Google to this phone but for the life of me I can't find all my email contacts.
When I get back all my contacts I'm going to buy a little black book and write them all down so this never happens again.
When I was in Adelaide I physically went to people's houses to get back in contact but I have friends and family many kilometres travel to get to so I couldn't see them

Martin, did you retrieve the sim card and memory card from the broken phone?
Why aren't your contacts/pics on those?

OK - usually when you get a new phone these days - the old & the new turned on - the information on the old will pass to the new - automatically - synced.
But - Your old cannot be turned on.
I would contact Sony - tell them the issue.
I'm quite sure if you forwarded your old phone - they would be able to retrieve the info - on a ' stick '.
Which could be plugged to your new phone.
Much cheaper & far more time effective than waiting for ' parts '.
You seem to be hard on phones - just a tip - my Nokia is now about 7 years old.
I keep it in my handbag - never turn it on - rarely charge it - never had a broken screen. lol

I just got a new phone recently. (had to get a 4G)
Not really smart phone savvy, but...
By keeping my number, my carrier was able to update and I retained all my contacts
I removed the memory card from my old phone, put it in the new and all my pics are there.

Everything is on the SD card from what I believe because nothing came up from the Sim card.
My sister said I should have brought the SD card to Adelaide with me but I've already lost the one from my Ute dashcam and I decided I'd keep the phone SD card safe at home because I'd already put the broken phone in the repair shop in September and didn't go to Adelaide until November.
She offered to buy me a new phone for Christmas but I don't want a new one until the old one is obsolete and I needed money for the lawn mowing I was behind in paying at the time.
The phone will be fixed now that the correct screen was finally found.
The flex power cord has already been ordered and paid for it's only because of COVID-19 that it's not here yet.
My sister has made a phone pouch that hangs off one of your jeans belt loops so it will eliminate the phone falling out my shirt pocket when I bend over after having forgotten to button it.
It had a screen protector but because of the curved screen it didn't go right to the edge because I couldn't find the curved screen one after the first purchase due to the seller being no longer registered and the fact that the model number is the same for a flat or curved screen.
The first curved screen protector saved the screen when it got broken but the flat screen protector let the edge of the phone screen get impacted and thus the screen being shattered.
I'd never broken a screen before but I believe that was just luck.

I did mention all this before I took it to the repair shop back in September.
I think.
I might not have.
I don't remember exactly but I did at the time talk about my phone issues
