Madcap, I know your pain.

My son is 13 and was diagnosed at age 7, in grade 1.

I struggled through primary school with him, even though I was very lucky and found I was at a very, very supportive primary school. We got no funding at all for him, even though he really needed help.

I thought long and hard abou High School and ended up taking him to one in a suburb 40 minutes drive away (in peak hour anyway).  I am glad I did.

He got severe anxiety and shut down totally by July last year (in yr 7) With wonderful support from his padiatrician and psychologist, we worked with the school and he now gets funding for the first time ever.  The school we are at is approachable (not perfect) and willing to listen to me.

From what I have learnt bout the local schools, they are not.  I have regular contact with kids from a lot of schools and they  are the ones who told me not to send him to a local one.

So have a look around, is there another option for you in the way of schools?

Hope it gets better for you.♥
