As I read the story the mother was taking the kids to school and they were ambushed by the father with a can of petrol.

It often depends on which version of the story you read as to how accurate it is.

so that leaves the question, why let him inside the car?

modern cars and that looked like a modern car, have central locking doors, just flick the switch.

then drive away from the crazy man.

i wasnt there but these are questions that are in my head.

From what i read he wasn't inside the car but  was outside and poured the petrol on the roof.

Yeah that's very surprising if that child was their only passenger.

Poor little guy was the only passenger on the bus and only 2 seats behind the driver.

Agreed.....they better go to jail

as a sosciety we have been lulled into a false sense of security

we leave little billy or betty with strangers and go off to do our lives

all the time trusting these strangers will take care of the kids

well sometimes strangers dont live up to the requirements

yes, these people will most likely go to jail, but it will never bring the little boy back.

but what can you do?

not leave very small kids with strangers?

Ultimately: don't entrust  the safety of your children to others
