He said schools won't be shut down unless a particular school feels it necessary. He said it could make things worse if kids don't go to school and end up coming in contact with the wider community instead. He's right in that you can't keep kids cooped up, so if they were home it'd be impossible to keep them isolated. He said it also frees up the parents to go to the supermarkets (without taking the kids) and for nurses, etc, not to have to be home with the kids.
He said quite a bit more but I can't remember a lot of it. He did say no shaking hands and everyone is to stay at least a metre and a half from everyone else, but I'm not sure whether that applied to everywhere and all the time or to specific places/events. I'm not sure how you hold a conversation with someone when you're 1.5 metres away.

Bloody ridiculous.
I'm keeping an eye on it, so far we're ok.
Hubs likes to wash his hands with liquid handwash, while I use the good old cake of soap.
Guess what? There's no liquid handwash on the shelves, but plenty of soap!
I tend to prefer soap in the bathroom and laundry but I use hand wash in the kitchen cause its more convenient to use when I am cooking
Ok.
I use dishwashing liquid to wash my hands when I'm working in the kitchen.
I often wash my glasses (spectacles) at the same time. Multi-tasking, lol...

So I can do the metre and a half thing no worries.
I think Buffy wouldn't be happy with such a rule though.
She's on my lap purring away

I am sure there would be some younger people who have never bought or used a cake of soap. They are fine at home or if you have one only you use but when a few people use the same bar of soap I just don't them clean.

Well...what's really clean? You can use a pump bottle of handwash liquid, but you're still touching the pump everyone else has used, or that you've used previously.
So then you turn around and use the handtowel hanging on the rail, how many times does that been used and hanging there gathering bacteria?
Really, it all shifts into hysteria.
A healthy immune system will deal with bacteria you might pick up in your daily activities. Such as washing your hands with a bar of soap.

If and when it comes here I'll be interested to see who gets it. The local op shop sells cakes every Friday and it's all loaded with sugar, and the people who buy it mostly have serious health issues. The woman who cooks most of it consumes huge amounts of sugar herself and isn't remotely interested in helping herself when it comes to her health, probably because she wouldn't know how to cope with having nothing to complain about.

Think i told you I was back to using good old Sunlight Soap, no one else here to use it but me LOL.
I wash my hands ever time I come home from shops or pat a dog.
One thing that gets me is Shopping trolleys, dirty handles
Makes me feel like wearing gloves at the best of times

We have sanitising wet wipes near the trolley bays to wipe them down.
I'm surprised no-one has stolen them so far.
