Coronavirus quick test ( folk version)

Seems an infection leaves one without a sense of smell , so maybe a quick test is to subject the target to smelling salts - now if the target splutters and recoils then is ok , if no reaction then good reason for further tesing . This should work regardless of any outward signs , so great at the pre-school , primary school etc

However such testing has not been clinically evaluated as a standard casual test

yeah right , unless you are a primary school teacher wondering which kid is going to kill you through him or her shedding virus and being undetected

Every morning before you get up, take a deep breath and hold while you count to 10.

If you can do that without coughing, you don't have the virus.

Please stop spreading quackery. It is irresponsible and dangerous.

Oh please. what harm can it possibly do? Or drinking water, for that matter

From your link:

“When someone has an acute viral infection it can be difficult to take a deep breath and not cough because the airways are irritated. That’s all it means.

“It doesn’t say anything about fibrosis, even though people with fibrosis might struggle doing it.

“Being able to hold your breath for 10 seconds also doesn’t mean someone doesn’t have coronavirus.”

Isn't Coronavirus an "acute viral infection"?

Actually I don't think this is as odd as it seems as I think if someone had any sort of lung, even bronchial, infection holding your breath like that would cause coughing.   Not to mean Covid19 though, but some sort of infection.

However as Stanford University debunks this theory re it being an indicator of Covid19   I'm happy to accept their advice.

Doesn't rule it out, though, either.

The experts say that if you can't do that, it could be due to a large number of other health issues, and is NOT a test for coronavirus

It can take up to 14 days for symptoms to appear. So you could hold your breath for a minute and not cough, but still have the virus. Maybe you'd start coughing tomorrow.
