@k1ooo-slr-sales wrote:the permit check point here has been set up on the NSW side of the border. There is an abc story on their news website that includes vision of the check lint in Buronga (it is about half way along the red line in the map I posted in a previous post).
I just got got off the phone to a friend who lives in Buronga and she said a bus load of police arrived yesterday. She saw them getting off the bus with bags and bags of gear. Looks like they have bolstered the number of police on the NSW side of the river.
the local VicPol Eyewatch Facebook page has a post about the border check point. Apparently the border check point is operating better than they thought it would.

One consequence of the border closure is that many cars with Vic registration being driven by drivers with a NSW licence is causing some delay. My rego each year is about half what I would pay if I was living on the NSW side of the border. Many people in NSW have their vehicles registered in Vic using a friend’s or relative’s Vic address, saving around $600 a year on a family sedan! Likewise, licences are cheaper here in Vic then they are in NSW. The law, however, does not permit this and there are fines for not having correct state rego. With number plate recognition software those who get caught out will have nowhere to hide (I’m betting that NSW residents across the river from Mildura are not liking the border restrictions now).
It should now be obvious to locals that:
• when you move to Victoria, you are required to get a Victorian licence and Victorian vehicle registration, AND
• when you move to NSW, you are expected to get a NSW licence and NSW vehicle registration.
Unfortunately, failing to comply with this law is causing unnecessary delays at the border closure – for everyone!
If you are in this situation, please contact VicRoads or RMS ASAP. ‘On the spot’ fines for breaches of this law are pretty savage (licence = $413 and vehicle = $826) and will quickly swallow any advantage you were seeking to gain.
The check point is being manned, in part, by Sydney police who have been brought down here. Yesterday we had our coldest ever day on records. Welcome to sunny Sunraysia!

i really hope these numbers start to fall soon

I am watching the premier’s presser and I think he said that today’s numbers are the last to come through before the tower lockdowns took place. One would expect that in a few days the numbers should start to drop, and then drop further once the statewide lockdown kicks in on testing results.

Lone Melbourne to Sunshine Coast passenger flies into hotel quarantine under police guard
why would the airline fly 1 passenger?
it makes no sense
but then there are so many 'it makes no sense' events right now

So looking at the photo accompanying that story....are the whole crew going into lockdown?
And why not? There was certainly no social distancing / masks for the photo.
