To be honest, I thought Torschlusspanik meant a sense of anxiety or fear caused by the feeling that life's opportunities are passing by and diminishing as one ages, but I guess it's all in the translation...
That's me pretty much done for amusing German words, so I'll sit back and quietly kick myself for not paying more attention, as a child, when Dad would swear in German-Yiddish, ha ha...

My Father in law was Latvian.
As he put it, We were "Liberated" by the Russians, then the Nazis, then the Russians, again...
He knew some "amusing" words and phrases in Russian, no doubt learnt from soldiers... ha ha...
I impressed him immensely by swearing like a Russian, not the full phrase, as it might appear in books, but just the operative word...
"You swear like a Russian", he said, beaming proudly at me...
At that point I knew I'd won him over, ha ha...
No, I won't repeat it, not because it's offensive in itself, but put in context it would violate Community standards... 😉
