you gotta wonder sometimes
so i often hear or read that police have caught a driver doing X speed over the limit
that their car has been 'clamped' for a period of time and their license suspended for X time
all fair and good
but they are discussing on radio how this system works (or not depending on your view)
so driver gets pulled over and yes, was speeding, instant loss of license for 12 months
i can understand that
BUT (theres allways a but) again
the driver must go to a rego office and pay a $25 fee to have the license cancelled and the cancellation begins at that moment
not at the time of the offence
i had never heard of this before (could be a SA only thing)
so we are hearing caller after caller with stories of how they assumed it began instantly and had no idea about the fee
sat out the entire year or whatever then tried to get theit license back only to get told
you never came in and paid the fee, your cancellation now beigins....NOW!
