The South African "fast spreader" variant is knocking on our doors via the UK located returnees and sundry non-publically reported visitors - our quarantine procedures will need hardening to deal with the elevated treat - the city based facilities are starting to not look like a good idea as there is no buffer zone in the event of just one asymptomatic slipping past dozy security...

 They'll turn out in their thousands with bells on, not masks on.

I love the Melbourne fireworks NYE display, but Melbourne cancelled....and rightly so.

I have never seen the Melbourne fireworks but have watched the Sydney show on TV along with millions of others worldwide. Considering it would have been already payed for and last years bushfires did not stop them then a pandemic in Australia obviously won't either. Anyway I will most likely be in bed by 10pm so I don't really care which way they go with them but many kids and adults will enjoy the show.

Exactly what I was saying.....I am tipping a mass outbreak that will be traced back to the fireworks display.

I love the Melbourne fireworks NYE display, but Melbourne cancelled....and rightly so.

The Sydney fireworks are spectacular but I have never braved the crowds....we walk  out the front door and can see them from there.

I have been advocating cancellation for several weeks now.
