I guess, but I am an Aussie citizen, not born here. Even as a citizen of 35 years, I still have to declare 'Place of Birth' on official forms.
I have just always believed you are the nationality of your parents/grandparents and so forth. My son for instance is Australian as his father is half aboriginal, but I still consider him as part Kiwi from me.
