advice re wasps

Hi

Wondering if anyone has any useful advice re wasps

We have a metal, curved roof/awning on our verandah, and they seem to like to build their nests under it. It is very annoying to have to keep removing the nests.

Does anyone know of a way to discourage them? 🙂

thanks

Surface spray... and don't remove the nests, keep them there and every now and then give them a spray. It seems to deter them from coming back.

I just sprayed a big nest under the meter box... maybe I should have left it there... ]:)

thanks

will try that

are they european wasps?

If they aren't the native ones are pretty harmless (so i've been told)

not sure what type they are

they are pretty big and mean looking ;\

and build those cone shaped honey comb looking nests

Not a risk im willing to take. I just knock the nests down as soon as i see them

They all really hurt when they sting.

If you are going to spray the nest, do it at dusk when they come home and use a proper wasp spray that will kill them dead instantly, not normal insect spray.

yeah, we've done that bit

ie after dark, sprayed with wasp spray and they all just die and fall out, and you can easily get rid of them

Just dont want them coming back,it enough already!

Didn't know that j*oono.

OP if you are a pyromaniac you could always set fire to them ]:)

They are paper wasps... and OMG do they hurt when they sting... and they repeatedly sting.. over and over again.

Just imagine someone really big and strong punching you over and over again with a giant sharp pin in their fist...

I have been got three times and it hurts for hours after... and they will attack en masse.

they even managed to sting me on my feet through little holes in my shoes... I still don't know how they managed that...
