thats exactly it amethyst,

I think the most important thing is that people know the limits and consquences of their own behaviour and accept that how they behave does and will affect other people....how much that does is not up to them to judge or decide (especially when it reaches a criminal level) and implying their victim is weak both enables, empowers and excuses their behaviour.

That we all remember that all people have the same rights and responsibilities we have.

Iza, what exactly are you trying to say to us? if you feel you are being unfairly targetted by other posters for goodness sake come out and say so - don't beat around the bush with long, rambling generalisations.

Yes cyber bullying can be a problem for teenagers and parents should teach them how to deal with it, but I'm sure posters here who have teenage kids are already very well aware of this need - lets face it it's been discussed on these boards ad nauseam.

Yes, online harassment which spills over into real life, e.g. stalking, abusive phone calls, anonymous letters or phone calls to employers or government agencies etc. are not only morally wrong but illegal and should be reported to the police - again, not rocket science and something we all know already.

'So called 'bullying' on the Ebay boards, however, is usually nothing more than silly, spiteful remarks, posted by silly, spiteful people sitting anonymously behind a computer. Unless their comments are defamatory and liable to cause harm in real life they can't possible hurt you unless you choose to let them do so - and are certainly not worth long over-earnest discussions.

I currently have several posters on ignore, simply because I found their inane comments on one particular thread were becoming increasingly irritating. when I have stopped feeling irritated I shall unignore them again. Problem solved and no-one needs to feel offended.

I have had the OP  bump old threads I have posted on and leave snide remarks, bring up comments from other threads which are totally unrelated to the discussion topic, seen personal digs made, when I have questioned these with the person concerned... no reply ever given.

Therefore I have no sympathy for people who do exactly what they are accusing/inferring that others do to them.

A bully or a troll?

Trolls are fairly harmless, just don't feed them unless you feel like an argument

True!!

I used to own chooks. I had about 30 in a big chook house with a long run. There was always one chook who got picked on by the boss chooks. If I moved the victim chookie to its own area to keep it safe, the boss chooks would very soon find another chook to pick on. It was like they thrived on picking on one chook, and didn't really care which one it was, as long as there was one.

Sometimes I would feed them some treats so I'd return the victim chookie to the flock so they could all share, but it never worked out satisfactorily. As soon as the boss group noticed the victim, they'd tear across the pen and start pecking it. Even the treats couldn't distract them 😞

in the end, I decided the only answer was to remove the boss chook group to their own area. They sulked and scrabbled about for a day or two, but pretty soon they found one of their own to peck...
