I'm jujst kicking myself that I didn't know about them, and also acknowledging that even if I did, i wouldn't have had the foresight to recognize the profit potential and bought up as many as I could.

Does that make me a shameless person who takes advantage of kiddies?

No-one is forcing them to buy them.  But they are selling, and quickly.  If there was no profit in selling

anything where would we be?  You can't buy stuff to give it away.
