If you opened a dispute for a partial refund, the seller would have refunded. PayPal will only force a refund against the seller's will or wishes if you opened a dispute for item not as described, or item not received, and they take quite a bit of time to do that after you escalate the case to them for review (which doesn't happen automatically, plus, in not as described cases, you can't get a refund unless you return the item).
The seller does seem to be new and may have not known how to handle it properly, which in this case is to your benefit.
Technically the use of a box was implied yet not promised. (I do get it, in that I understand why you were miffed, and I recognise being technically correct isn't exactly or always the 'best' kind of correct 
).
In any case, there's no excuse for FB stalking / aggression.
