What happens when you give away free stuff for a while is people come to expect freebies as a right.
It was only a few years ago when you only got freebies for 99c auctions. Now everybody gets at least some

Nope, not a right... just a bonus for ebay, as they get a lot more items listed.
Otherwise, once insertion fees come into play, items just stay unlisted and a lot less potential sales for ebay.

They are after big box retailers and Chinese junk sellers.

Yes, you're absolutely right, but they will learn the hard way. Death knell coming....... in fact it's already started with so many sellers leaving and taking their buyers with them.
