I printed out one this morning and it looks totally different (and worse) than last week.

Yes, the reason why it looks worse is because the entire label is now one big bitmap image. What this means is that if you try to enlarge it, you it goes a chunky and pixelated. Previously it was composed from vector based artwork that prints sharp & crisp and could be enlarged smoothly if required.
