Yep, the initial post got it round the wrong way, but we can interpret what they mean because they wouldn't be worried if the item really was better than described.

Their only worry then would be if they had underpriced it.

But given they mean they talked it up more than it deserved and the buyer might be disappointed.... well, what the seller does will depend on the cost of the item.

This exact thing happened to us one day with a doiley. Described as lovely etc and when we went to pack, found a very small hole.

Honestly hadn't seen it, even when taking several photos.

We posted it to the woman but gave her a full refund and sent a message to explain and apologise.

And put it down to experience.

We got glowing feedback. But we're talking about a $5 sale all up, including postage.

For a dearer item, probably message the buyer, outline some options eg full refund, partial refund, etc. Include a few extra photos so they can decide. Be specific about where the item falls down, where it loses a point in the score.

I once sent an tem of clothing and refunded as I had not noticed a mark on it until I was packing. The buyer was over the moon and in fact deposited the item price directly into my bank account (one advantage of having bank details in your listings LOL).

Just an update; after giving the buyer a number of options, the buyer was happy to just be refunded for the transaction!! Was happy to send for free, but seems like I got a very honest buyer who was also completely understanding and thankful that I had informed them before sending!! Lesson very much learned!! Thanks for all input, totally appreciated!!!

I read it the same way.  That the item was in better condition than described

Yep, here's another ninny that read it as the item was better than described.

What's not to be happy about....the buyer got a completely free item that they had been willing to pay a reasonable amount for.

I have to say too that after reading the posts on this topic I too was a bit confused as to why some posters seemed to be reading the OP incorrectly.
So I went back and read it carefully once again. I found that I had misread two words "...actually is!" As "... actually says!"
Doing this my mind caused me to see it how the OP had intended it to be rather than the way other posters saw it who had read the words correctly.
How easy it is for our brains to get confused.

The difference is that this ninny did not jump in boots and all and give advice when she did not think the OP was clear.

And did you notice that even the OP admits that the post was not very clear?
