Hi PJ,
I understand your confusion over this, it is bound to happen with such sweeping product changes. I can confirm for you that Australia Post may, at its complete discretion pay compensation of up to $50 for parcels lost or damaged that have no extra cover attached (ie, tracking only, or tracking + signature).
As always though, if you are concerned about the safety of your sale items we encourage you to take out enough extra cover to provide you with the peace of mind of knowing that neither you nor your buyer will be out of pocket if the worst occurs.
Alice
What about the eBay flat rate satchels? Last I checked, you can purchase Signature On Delivery but not extra cover, and under the old pricing structure, flat rate satchels never qualified for the discretionary $50 compensation, but $1 SOD provided up to $100 compensation, yet now for $2.95 we get....what, exactly, besides the signature?
Add to that, all options other than "leave in a secure location out of the weather" have disappeared from the delivery instructions, and I'm sorry but I have trouble believing it's a "glitch" - what kind of glitch makes all options but the one that virtually necessitates paying $2.95 for SOD if we don't want the parcel safe-dropped disappear, then can't be fixed for over a week and counting?
