As noted above, it's perfectly safe to give the Acct and BSB numbers to a buyer.
Newbies, I think, are sometimes a bit frightened about linking a bank account to PayPal as transactions can go in both directions once linking is in place.
Newbies can also be a bit worried about security too given the number of hacks and phishing expeditions that abound these days.
Consequently, they will often take a while to gain confidence with online transactions.
