You are absolutely correct. Plenty of some buyers don't read the description. With some of my items I'll use a coin or a can of drink, or a matchbox as a size comparison. I can't tell you how many buyers contacted me saying they didn't get the 5c coin, or the can of coke, or the matchbox. Even after writing it in my descriptions, I'd still get messages saying not everything shown was delivered. I took one photo with a ruler and someone asked why they didn't receive the ruler! You bought a miniature tea set, why would you expect to get a scratched up old ruler with it?
Some buyer just don't get that for some items you need to have props to show the item off better. Whether that be a plastic head showing a hat or sunglasses, or bottle of wine, showing a decorative cork, or whatever. I'm guessing these are the same people that expect to get the Big Mac in the pictures on the wall at Maccas.
