EBAY’S FEEDBACK CONTRADICTION

Hi, look I am not the most intelligent person in the world how ever I have found exactly where your feedback terms and conditions contradict each other.

Here it is:

Buyers can leave sellers positive, neutral, or negative feedback depending on how the transaction went. Sellers can only leave buyers positive feedback.

Note Sellers can only leave positive Feedback.

Before you bid on an item, you can check the seller's Feedback Profile by clicking on the Feedback Score next to the seller's user ID. Sellers might also want to view the Feedback Profiles of bidders to see how reliable they have been in past transactions

Note:

Sellers might also want to view the feedback profile of bidders.

See the contradiction

SELLERS CANNOT LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.

YET SELLERS MAY WANT TO VEIW FEEDBACK PROFILES OF BIDDERS?

PLEASE EXPLAIN?

At the end of the day are sellers not eBay's cunstomers and buyers are our customers?

Should eBay not look after thier Customers if they want their Money?

kokomobua, I've seen that mentioned before by others and I used to agree at first. Then when I thought about it I decided I would rather buy from sellers who had built up feedback at least for buying if not for selling, than members with no feedback at all. So ultimately I can see a reason for buyer feedback if used properly.

In the case of bad buyers it would help if more sellers went through the dispute process, and also stopped leave positive fb for them which many still do, increasing the positive score 😞

I think that the comment part for buyers should be abolished; the seller would still have the possibility to leave green dot, and the ID would still have the number of transactions.  That way you could see that the person has X green dots for buying, and if they also sell the normal FB for selling.  That way seller could not leave negative comments; it would be green dot or nothing.  Simple and fair.

Your are a broken record aren't you

ebay's playground, ebays rules.

You do not have to stay here and with only 30+ listings when the store fees go up to $49.95 you will not have to worry about the feedback system on ebay if you stop selling anyway.

No-one ever listens to me  but I will say this anyway .

As far as I am concerned the transaction has two parts:

Phase 1.

1. the seller lists an item for sale

2. the buyer bids, wins and pays for the item

3. end of the first phase - the buyer has fulfilled his/her obligation in the sale. the seller leaves feedback for the buyer - 'fast payment etc etc'

Phase 2:

the item is received by the buyer

1. the item is OK - buyer leaves positive feedback - 'item great ...' - END OF STORY

or

2. the item is not OK the buyer contacts the seller - 'this is broken' etc and negotiations re refund / return of item etc take place. If the buyer is satisfied with the outcome (ie either item is replaced or a refund is given) then the buyer leaves feedback.

This seller retaliation for bad feedback SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN - the seller should have already left feedback for the buyer when the payment was made.

Non-Payment strikes etc should be a totally separate part of the system.

Perfectly said

Here we go again.

FEEDBACK IS VOLUNTARY NOT MANDATORY.

this business of a seller only leaving positive feedback AFTER the buyer has left positve for the seller IS A CROCK!!!

When the payment is made, the buyer has fulfilled his part of the bargain and the seller should leave feedback to reflect that.

The mechanical part about sellers being too busy to leave manual feedback is also a CROCK. It would be a simple matter for eBay programmers to automatically leave feedback for the buyer when the payment is made and cleared in the same way that feedback is left automatically once the buyer has left positive feedback for the seller.

Whether feedback is madatory is not the question here.

It would be a simple matter for eBay programmers to automatically leave feedback for the buyer when the payment is made and cleared

Why would anyone endorse that option? Since when is the buyers involvement completed just because they have paid?

Integrity is priceless.
