You can't win an item not as described case but the buyer would be required to return the item.
You're right, pick up only is a better option. Having it working as demo as the buyer picks it up.
But if you decide to post, make sure you have the serial number and even mark the item with an invisible pen.
Don't want someone doing a swap on a return but it's still a nightmare through eBay if they do.
The best way to sell these types of items is to offer cheaply and just get rid of it.
But as you are selling for someone it's not that simple.
