Quite a bit of vitriol being splashed about but I can see why this is so unpopular.

We always had the option to auto-renew listings if we chose to do so.

About the only benefit I can really see is that Google will be able to index listings more accurately as their data will remain constant.

Other than that, just more work for sellers.
