If this happens will eBay official notify the buyer to keep the watch and will refund him?
I have called eBay, explained my concern, they told me if the buyer opens a case against me, escalate to them, they are on my side.
If the end of the day the decision is in favour of the buyer, why eBay has the authority to let him keep my watch without paying, it is not a counterfeit.
I think you are finding it hard to believe the advice in here because when you rang ebay, they said they were on your side.
Also, you are focusing on the loss of money in postage costs if you do accept a return. You're hoping for a result where you won't lose any money and you think you might get that if you follow ebay's advice.
So who to believe, the people in here or ebay itself?
The problem is if you escalate, you won't be dealing with the same ebay people. Not at all. It will be a different department and from what I have read, sometimes the results are automated. In other words, computer generated in the buyer's favour.
I would say even if you get a human looking at it, they are likely to decide in the buyer's favour when it comes to the report of a watch not working properly.
Ebay usually refunds the buyer. No, I don't think they just tell the buyer he can keep the watch but if they refund the buyer automatically, before that buyer has posted it back, do you think a scammer is going to return it if he doesn't have to? Of course not.
Scammers are always nice before they scam you.
No one here can say exactly what will happen with your case but what they are saying is if you escalate, don't believe that what one ebay person said on the phone is what the next ebay person will follow. You are more likely to lose the case and the buyer keeps the watch and gets a refund. You will probably lose it all.
Or you can opt for a refund on return of the watch. You will definitely be out of pocket postage costs but will at least have the watch.
