Many of the items are over 20mm standard letter width & will not go through the AusPost letter guage or letter sorting equipment. I'm guessing most sellers just post them in the mailbox so don't realise or aren't told.

Small letters can't be thicker than 5mm, and they have to flexible.

Aus Post also charge a $1.50 admin fee for underpaid mail, so it's always the difference in postage cost, plus $1.50 (a $2.50 cost would mean $1 in underpaid postage).
