So do you think it might have been for publicity?
They used to be branded as Foodland / IGA, which I think has stores nationally. Kind of known as the "indie" supermarket chain, I think as at least some of them are franchises (? not 100% sure on that, will have to add it to my google list, lol).
They can be quite different, at any rate - one of the ones near me specialises in imported goods and makes a lot of stuff in-house - they do these paprika and cheese sausages that are amazing, in that they're literally the only sausage I've ever enjoyed eating
but I digress... The other one is a bit more mainstream but still has better variety as unlike Coles / Woolies, they don't remove popular brands from the shelves and substitute them with their (usually) inferior own-brand stuff.
Anyway. The point I just spent two pointless paragraphs intending to make was... They're basically still a regular supermarket and you can typically return stuff bought at one to another under normal circumstances.
Sidenote: while a relatively large chain, they certainly haven't constantly been in the news like Coles / Woolies have, talking about new restrictions, having to hire thousands of staff etc, so I won't begrudge the effort even if it is a bit of an embellished tale - those sausages are darn good.
