Postage charged but not in final payment?

Hey, ok so I sold an item for $500, with an agreed postage cost of $65. The buyer made a single offer of $565 so I accepted. I went to invoice it out at $565 with $0 postage and it wouldnt let the buyer pay, saying postage cant be $0.

I then adjusted it and gave the sale a $65 discount and added $65 in the postage section - total of the invoice equals $565 still...

Now the buyer has paid the invoice, but the ebay payment transaction shows item total $565, with a $65 discount, with $0 postage, meaning its only sent me $500...

I am unsure how it has done this.

I'm confused what you have done.  You say $500, with $65 postage.  but than you gave a $65 discount,  which last time I did maths equals $500.

I am also confused

The only thing you have sold on this account recently for $500 shows 'local pick up only'

Yes I saw that as well,  but figured they may have come to some arrangement to post it,  but even then $65 for postage unless it is going to the wilds of Canada is a bit rich.

Do you have Paypal.....contact the buyer and have them pay postage to that, or your bank a/c

The seller agreed to $565 including shipping, he made the offer of $565 and I accepted. I invoiced him at a total of $565 with $0 postage (there was no "free postage" option when invoicing). The seller was not able to accept the invoice as there was an error saying it cant be $0 for postage...

So I did another invoice, this time gave a $65 discount (meaning the total was now $500 for the item), and added $65 in the postage box. The invoice total was $565 again which looked normal and as expected. I was only paid $500, and the ebay payment shows a $565 order, with $0 postage and a $65 discount which makes no sense, as I have the original invoice showing $65 put on it for postage.

Ebay have since told me that the buyer only paid $500, even though the invoice to them shows $565 total.

Ebay had then told me to cancel the order and relist at $500 with $65 shipping, however when I cancel the order, it wants me to refund it as if I was paid $565, even though I was only paid $500...

I do not understand how ebay can ask me to REFUND more then what I was paid for in the first place...

I acknowledge it would of been better to have sold it orignally at 500 with 65 postage, but either way, it was invoiced at 565, I was paid 500, and now they want me to refund 565...

I am still waiting for them to call me back after having spent an hour in chats getting nowhere.

$65 is international express posting an insured autographed poster to someone on the other side of the globe, its no more then what Aus post quoted me.

I am waiting to hear back from the buyer whether ebay actually made him pay the 500, or the invoice amount of 565. Even thought the invoice shows a 565 total, ebay claims the buyer paid 500 which makes no sense to me.

no, it doesn't make sense....sounds like another glitch.....I hope your buyer is honest with you

funny, the buyer just responded saying ebay shows that he was owing $565, yet ebay only charged him $500 which he has also informed me.
