Did you have the word "obsolete" in your title and description? Were you listing in Collectables - Historical Memorabilia - Police? I have sold police badges successfully, though they were more like 1940s 1950s than 1980s. There are certainly examples of obsolete uniform items  and badges that have sold within Australia in this category in the last 3 months. If you decide to try re-listing (just one item to see how you go) do write a whole new title and description - don't just stick "obsolete" in somewhere and think the bots won't recognise you again.
