Thanks for everyones help (im a little late posting in here, i didn't realise i had any replies :P).

I think i have decided to go with the D3100, which is the previous model and apparently not much different for a lot less of the price.
Im just going to get it with the single lens kit and see how that goes, but i think i still may end up getting a macro lens as well as i would like to do some close ups sections of the larger products and there are a couple of my items that are small like your items gemsstone.

Do most people here use a light tent? Thats the thing im struggling with at the moment, there are quite a few on ebay but im not sure wether these are good quality or not. I know some might say i could make one my self but id rather just buy one 😛
