It was paid on the 13th, but the payment didn't clear until 18th, so both is really correct I guess.

I always send a contact note to the buyers who pay by echeque on the day the echeque clears - something along the lines of...

"Thank you for your purchase. Your echeque has cleared today and I have posted to you today also."
