if they open an Item Not as Described case with Paypal, they will be required to return it to you, trackable, at their own expense.

 

As you are sure they are wrong, that might be the way to go.

 

Or maybe you could ask for photos, have a look around your storage area for a spare lid...

 

it seems an unusual thing for a scammer to pick on. Maybe you didn't actually send the lid? Just a thought.
