There have been reports of PayPal processing payments as an eCheque when the buyer expected them to be instant due to their funding source (I vaguely remember in one instance, it was shown as cleared on the buyer's side, but a pending eCheque on the seller's, but even if that does happen, it would be a rare exception), other than that, some just don't know how long it takes to clear to the seller, and/or don't look at all of the available information.
I send messages too, explaining how I process orders paid that way etc, and so far they seem to have served me well.
