I would like to, but that's very difficult when I don't know what instructions you're already following - I realise you have outlined the first few steps you're taking (essentially opening the listings to edit them), but I don't know what you're doing after that, when you get to this point: "According to instructions my chosen listing should appear magically in its selected category in the lefthand column in my Store.", so my tips were focussed on what steps I take to edit items into store categories after the first two.
