Gosh DG i view it differently, IMO i have a service contract with eBay that commits to delivering me particular things.
I meet my side of my contracted obligations - I expect that eBay will deliver on its obligations - and not let me down time and time again ...
(Or keep changing the contract at whim)
That's kinda what I mean about the difference between responsibility and obligation - I definitely don't disagree that there are some things which are obligations; every seller needs to provide what they sell. What I meant was that eBay don't owe me specific services and functions that would suit me - I first requested a few years ago (and I'm quite certain I wasn't the first or only seller to do so) the ability to provide customers with promotional coupon codes that could be applied at checkout to reduce item prices, and from what I hear that's been part of a test that's being conducted, so that's neat, but while I could consider providing sellers those kinds of functions part of a greater responsibility for maintaining a competitive and functional selling platform, providing that specific function wouldn't be an obligation they had to me or to sellers in general.
On the other hand, there are some things I feel would be treated as an obligation by most companies with the kind of ethics and integrity I personally admire. 😉
