When it comes to an item of this value the seller protection is pretty much the same, with Paypal seller protection you only have to provide proof of sending with items up to a certain value (can't remember off hand what it is) and after that you have to have proof of delivery. For something of that value I would have sent it with every bit of tracking, insurance and proof of delivery, including signature required, that I would need for a US federal investigation never mind Paypal or ebay protction.
