Seller Payment Email trickery?

Got an email from eBay telling me that

" credit/debit card declined eBay's attempt to automatically deduct the amount due"

Yes, it was really from eBay. So I checked my credit card and everything was fine. No reason for it to decline anything.

So I manually went in and paid the bill via eBay's system with my credit card. Went through just fine.

Rereading the email I noticed the following

"As a reminder, past due accounts may be restricted from buying or selling until payment is received.

Say goodbye to credit card finance charges by signing up for Direct Pay, the easiest way to pay your eBay seller fees To sign up, go to www.ebay.com, click My eBay at the top of the page, sign in with your eBay User ID and password, click the "Seller Account" link (beneath My Account in the left navigation menu) and follow the instructions for updating your payment method."

So my question to all of you ...

Did you get an email like this when you paid your last seller fees? Do you suspect as I do that eBay wants us all to switch to direct deposit instead of credit card? Maybe eBay doesn't like paying the credit card fees.

It would be interesting to know how many sellers were told their credit card rejected the eBay bill.Woman Sad
