I always wrapped my breakables in tea towels and pillow slips. They have to be packed anyway!

I've only ever used white for this kind of thing, simply because I copied what the stores do, so I figured that was the "right way"

I agree! If you iron it though it is ok.... (Once worked in a "posh restaurant" and we had an English promotion on and put "fish and chips"  on the menu - was posh stuff LOL (read - written fancy like on the menu with a few "gourmet" sides, but basically fish and chips) and we served those in Newspaper cones - so we had to bloody iron the newspaper!

I pack in bubblewrap. I wash before I pack, then when unpacking, I can put it straight into the cupboard - if you use newspaper, you would have to wash everything again as you unpacked it! There's enough to do when settling into a new house without washing stuff before you can put it away!

 

I buy mine from a florist shop in bulk, it's heavier quality than packaged tissue paper, but I really need to find my own supplier to avoid their markup. I'm thinking to try a floristry supplies place.

that's a great idea, but then ya gotta wash  and iron the packaging before you can put em away!

I'm a rip and dump kinda girl - find the less work intense methods possible

We moved over the Christmas new year period - no way was I going to waste time packing things in tissue and newspaper.

Moving is energy depleting and brain zapping as it is. As much as possible I just wrapped things in clothes, towels, doonas,

linen, you name it. Being 'resourceful' paid off at the other end too. I hate packaging material floating around in my midst

particularly peanuts and shredded paper!

Yes! That would work for me too, like I said I am after something between light tissue weight and butcher paper weight.

White, off white or light brown/natural would work for me. Come to think of it I have had flowers in the past wrapped in a

nice light brown tissue. Wish I had paid more attention at the time.

In saying that, will invest in some of that stuff Stawka suggested, I liked that for some of the things I pack

and also Beach and Home's suggestion of the papwer she suggested, I have a use for that too
