Here's what we found for "Cancel Purchase"[ Previouspage ]
If you are a buyer and wish to cancel a purchase, you will need to contact your seller to see if they would be willing to cancel the transaction. If the seller doesn't agree to cancel the transaction, you'll need to honour your purchase and pay for the item. If you don't pay for the item, the seller can open an unpaid item case.

If you are a seller and have sold an item but you no longer want to complete the sale, it's best to contact your buyer and explain what's going on. The buyer might release you from your commitment to sell the item. If the buyer agrees, you can cancel the transaction and receive a credit on your final value fee. If the buyer doesn’t agree to cancel the sale, you will need to complete the transaction.

"They can open a 'cancel' case from their end."

So nothing has changed it is still seller initiated.

I just checked on a purchse i have made, There is no option to cancel, resolve a problem only leads to I haven't received my item or item not as described.

Have you already paid for the item you looked at.??

Buyers can't initiate a cancellation, the seller has to do it at the buyers request. Buyer can still leave negative feedback and trash your DSR's. UPI, buyer gets a strike, seller gets their FVF's back regardless, and buyer can't leave negative feedback and trash your DSR's. I know what I'd be doing.

Of course not. I'm waiting for a combined invoice.

I am all ears on how to go about this cancellation? take me through the steps please. I certainly couldn't find where to do it.

Buyers can't initiate an eBay cancellation request.

This is changing though as part of the latest updates on ebay.com and hopefully will change on AU soon.

We’re also streamlining the cancellation process to make it easier for buyers and sellers to cancel a transaction directly from My eBay. Buyers can request a cancellation if they change their mind within an hour after the sale (as long as you haven’t already shipped the item). This will help reduce the hassle of unpaid items and help you get your merchandise back up for sale faster. Sellers will also have the option to cancel transactions directly from My eBay instead of the Resolution Center and, if the buyer paid with PayPal, sellers will no longer need to wait for a response from the buyer.

Given - I have not had to deal with many of these in the past nine years. Just went into the relevant pages - again all changed. Seems to just stear everyone back to the seller - ain't that the way with eBay. I have had - in the past emails from a buyer wanting to cancel - all I had to do was hit the agree.

It's not been the case for as long as I can remember. It was only ever seller initiated.

"Not sure the 4 day unpaid item thingo goes down well - buyers who end up paying get 'huffy' - then leave the 'huffy' feedback."

I have opened a few of those when the buyer doesn't make contact or pay. Mostly they do end up paying, even if it is on a date that suits them.
I have never had anyone get huffy. It doesn't affect the feedback they leave either, or they leave none.

Buyers won't have any legitimate complaint about having a UPI opened, as the seller is following the eBay process for UPI.
